There’s nothing better than snuggling up with some eggnog, warm sugar cookies and a good-old-fashioned Christmas flick. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, there’s something for everyone to enjoy when it comes to classics like “Home Alone”, “The Grinch” and comedies like “Four Christmases” starring Vince Vaughan and Reese Witherspoon. If you’re looking for something new to watch, we’ve got you covered with the most hotly anticipated Christmas films in 2021.

Luckily, with streaming services like Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu at our fingertips, we could all easily have a Christmas movie marathon every day until 2022. (Not that we’re planning on doing that, or anything…)

While watching the same comforting Christmas movies year after year can be a wonderful tradition, there’s also something to be said for mixing it up and diving into those you haven’t seen before. This year, there are plenty of Christmas movies released in 2021 that are currently trending — here are five of the most highly anticipated:

1. 8-Bit Christmas

Based on the popular book by Kevin Jakubowski, “8-Bit Christmas” tells the story of a 10-year-old boy in 1980s Chicago, who embarks on a quest for the newest video game system. Streaming on HBO Max, this Christmas movie has something for the whole family.

2. Next Stop, Christmas

Who doesn’t love a good Hallmark Christmas movie? “Next Stop, Christmas” chronicles Angie’s journey as she rides a train 10 years into the past to find out what might have been if she had married her ex. Judging by the trailer, “Next Stop, Christmas” seems like it would be the perfect flick to watch with your girlfriends, some popcorn and a warm beverage.

3. Father Christmas is Back

Featuring an all-star cast of Elizabeth Hurley, Kelsey Grammer and John Cleese of Monty Python fame, “Father Christmas is Back” tells the story of four sisters who reunite in a Yorkshire mansion for the holiday season. Infused with that delightful British sense of humor, this Christmas movie released in 2021 on Netflix will have you laughing, crying and of course, getting in the mood for the holidays.

4. My Christmas Family Tree

Another 2021 Hallmark Christmas movie, “My Christmas Family Tree” starring Aimee Teegarden, Andrew Walker and James Tupper tells the story of a woman who reunites with long-lost relatives for the holidays and — shocker — falls in love in the process.

5. Home Sweet Home Alone

Available for streaming on Disney+, “Home Sweet Home Alone” is a reboot of the beloved classic featuring Macaulay Culkin. In this version, a little boy named Max Mercer is left behind by his parents after they left for a trip to Japan, and he gets himself into all sorts of mischief when a married couple attempts to retrieve an heirloom from his family’s home.
