Each of us is capable of doing great things. Those who are living fulfilling and accomplished lives weren’t necessarily born with a penchant for success. Yes, some may have been extremely lucky, but many were able to strive and overcome obstacles in the relentless pursuit of their goals.
If you don’t believe that you’re capable of such things, you’re either living in fear or stuck in your comfort zone.
Moving Toward the Growth Zone
You may have seen variations of the “Comfort Zone” graphic recently. The journey it highlights is applicable to almost all situations where there’s an opportunity for growth. With the many challenges of 2020, this graphic has been making its rounds on the internet.
It outlines four zones that each person goes through to achieve true growth. This can be applied to your overall personal growth or to a particular goal you are pursuing.
- The Comfort Zone: When someone is living in their Comfort Zone, as the name suggests, they’re quite comfortable. They feel safe and in control. While this may seem desirable, those who refuse to leave their comfort zone cut themselves off from experiences that expand their knowledge base. Embracing the uncomfortable is essential for growth.
- The Fear Zone: Individuals in the Fear Zone are starting to embrace the uncomfortable but stop themselves from pushing through it. Those in this zone usually lack the confidence it takes to tackle the thing that scares them. They worry about what others will think and try to find ways to avoid taking that next step toward growth.
- The Learning Zone: The Learning Zone is where the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to shine. In the Learning Zone, individuals are facing and dealing with the challenges they encounter on their journey. In doing so, they are learning to adapt and developing new skills to help them towards their goal. They are actively working towards progress.
- The Growth Zone: The Growth Zone is where we start to accomplish great things. This is when dreams are being realized and new goals and objectives are set to continue the forward trajectory. Individuals in the Growth Zone are living their purpose.
