These Influencers Are Raising Awareness About Health Challenges

Published on August 6, 2022

Friends hold hands, go out of a huge phone

Although they sometimes can get a bad rep in the public consciousness, some social media creators have been a source of inspiration, education and motivation for many. For anyone struggling with physical or mental health challenges, it can be inspiring to find someone online who has experienced similar challenges and can share their story as a source of comfort or inspiration. That’s why we’ll be highlighting influencers who are using their platforms to raise awareness about health challenges.

Drawing Inspiration and Encouragement From the Online World

Dealing with a health challenge or a new diagnosis can often be a lonely, isolating and sometimes terrifying experience. And while there are plenty of health resources online, it’s often more powerful to hear someone relay their own story in a personal way that makes you feel less alone and a little more understood.

Whatever you’re going through, there’s usually a good chance someone else in the world is experiencing something similar. It’s comforting to know that we can draw inspiration and encouragement from the online world during stressful times.

Influencers Educating Their Audiences About a Particular Health Challenge

Here are four examples of influencers who are making a difference by using their platforms to advocate, educate and inform people about a particular health challenge:

1. The Balanced Blonde

Over the years, Jordan Younger of The Balanced Blonde has built a devoted following of other like-minded wellness lovers by discussing everything from yoga to astrology on her blog, social media account and podcast, Soul on Fire.

In her content, Younger has chronicled her challenging journey with Lyme disease, which gave her debilitating symptoms like intense pain, rashes and many other concerns. By using her platform to speak out about her illness, share resources and tell her story, Younger has helped many of her followers who have also struggled with Lyme disease, while helping to raise awareness about the condition.

2. Sadie Aldis

Social media creator Sadie Aldis has lived with type 1 diabetes since she was just three years old. Since type 1 diabetes is a condition that’s often misunderstood by those who don’t live with it, Aldis has taken the opportunity to use her massive platform as a chance to educate people about the disease, and over the years, she’s created several videos chronicling her life with type 1 diabetes for her one million subscribers.

Not only has this no doubt helped people learn about the disease and what it’s like to live with it every day, but through her content, Aldis serves as a source of inspiration and encouragement to others living with type 1 diabetes.

Through her work, Burke has used social media for good, helping to raise awareness about her condition while educating people about how to best support those living with disabilities and much more.

Fitness trainer and online coach Ben Mudge provides information, inspiration and encouragement to his hundreds of thousands of followers regularly.
