Pride Month is almost here once again, and there’s plenty to celebrate this year in the global LGBTQ+ community. For example, the U.K. recently released a commemorative coin to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pride Month, Greece banned conversion therapy on May 11th, 2022, while athletes and public figures have continued to come out and speak their truth.
However, there’s no doubt the LGBTQ+ community still faces several challenges. U.S. President Joe Biden recently warned that hate and violence towards LGBTQ+ people is on the rise, and in many cases, systemic inequality is still forcing them to fight for the most fundamental human rights.
It’s more important than ever to step up and act as allies to the LGBTQ+ community. In honor of Pride Month, show your support by giving some love to LGBTQ-owned brands. According to the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), there are 1.4 million LGBTQ-run companies in the U.S., which collectively account for $1.7 trillion a year in revenue, so there are plenty of opportunities to join in on the fun.
