Especially in December, we like to indulge in the odd pre-dinner cocktail, and Bourbon Sours are a definite favourite! We’re sure you will love this Saskatoon Berry Bourbon Sour recipe.

A cozy Christmas cocktail

This recipe calls for Saskatoon Berry syrup, which can be found locally. Since it’s being used in a cocktail, I like to look for something with a thinner consistency. Or, if you’re willing to take a little extra time, you can easily whip up a batch of Saskatoon Berry simple syrup yourself. Just follow the regular process for simple syrup, continue to simmer the mixture with approximately 1 cup of berries for about 15 minutes, and finish with a squeeze of lemon. This could also be done with different types of berries if you’re interested in experimenting with new flavours!

Per Cocktail

1 1/2 oz. Bourbon
1 Large Egg White
1 oz. Lemon Juice
3/4-1 oz. Saskatoon Berry Syrup
2-3 Dashes of Bitters
Rosemary for garnish

Using a cocktail shaker filled roughly halfway with ice, pour in all of the ingredients, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds (you can reserve the bitters to make a design on the egg whites, but with the colour of this beverage, I choose to incorporate them). Strain the cocktail into your glass, and garnish with a sprig of rosemary!

Make it a cozy mocktail by substituting the bourbon with 2oz of steeped and chilled chai tea
