The fall/winter edition of New York Fashion Week 2022 took place from February 11th to 16th, and as per usual, the looks did not disappoint. Bringing together the most stylish designers, models and fashion influencers today, New York Fashion Week is a bi-annual event used to showcase the next season’s hottest looks.

Where Does New York Fashion Week Take Place?

Spring Studios is where many designers showcase their work during New York Fashion Week, but the event also takes place in various locations throughout New York City.

7 of the Hottest Looks From New York Fashion Week 2022

This year, some of the top trends included bold hues, statement-making sequins and whimsical accents like feathers and lace. It seems the past two years have brought on a dire need for fun, whimsy and color, and the looks this February brought all this and more.

Here are some of the most memorable looks from New York Fashion Week 2022:

1. Prabal Gurung Fall 2022

Nepal native Prabal Gurung told Vogue his Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection is “a tale of two cities,” meaning Kathmandu and New York City. Being unable to visit home for almost three years, Gurung fused together elements from both sides of the world for the collection. This feathered dress made a bold statement at the runway show.

2. The Blonds Fall 2022

The Blonds closed out New York Fashion Week 2022 on Wednesday with a memorable runway show full of glitz and glam. Phillipe and David Blond, the duo behind the label, drew inspiration from The Matrix, techno-romance, Grace Jones and even vampires for the fantastical looks, which featured sky-high heels by Christian Louboutin, laser-cut crystals and over-the-top hair and makeup.

3. Sergio Hudson Spring 2022

Inspired by the brightly-hued ensembles of the ‘90s (namely – the Cher Horowitz Clueless era), Sergio Hudson’s Spring 2022 runway show featured leopard prints, vibrant blues, greens, pinks, purples and oranges and chic, tailored silhouettes. The show also featured fashion legends Eman, Livany and Beverly Johnson, the first Black woman to appear on the cover of Vogue in 1974.

4. Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2022

Some of the most memorable looks to be displayed at New York Fashion Week came from Bibhu Mohapatra’s theatrical Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection. Cinched waists, patent leather, lace, sequins and combat boots were on full display as feminine silhouettes and luxurious accessories like gloves, hats and fur stoles took center stage.

5. Anna Sui Fall 2022

Legendary designer Anna Sui’s Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection also served some of the most unforgettable looks of the week. Inspired in part by the British rock music TV show Ready Steady Go! of the 1960s, the collection fused elements from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘90s, all while reflecting the streetstyle of today. Featuring tweed jackets, kilts, patterned tights and accessories fit for a rock star, the collection redefines the styles of the past.

6. Markarian Fall 2022

Another collection that hearkened to the fashion plates of the past while acknowledging the new world was Markarian’s Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear capsule. Full of feminine silhouettes, sequins, dainty accessories, lace and feather headdresses, the collection served as a nod back to the flapper style of the 1920s while serving up more of the romance and whimsy that was so ubiquitous at New York Fashion Week 2022.

7. Jason Wu Fall 2022

Inspired by the demure and ladylike silhouettes of the 1950s, Jason Wu’s Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection also fused elements of history with the fashion of the future. Some of the most memorable looks from the collection were the ruffled party dresses in black, marigold and a soft blush color, which encapsulate our collective desire to dress up, have fun and just feel pretty after so many months of lockdown.
